Not only do you see the great outdoors in a totally different light while hiking, it also offers different challenges from summer camping. If you're planning a family camping or hiking trip, you'll need to think a bit about what kinds of food to take with you.

You better get a good sleeping bag or tent, or you may not have a camping trip at all in the first place let alone a nice comfortable one. As you grow into camping and gain experience, you can buy an RV or add quality camping gear. Battery lanterns give of plenty of light but however you will need to have spare batteries or if it is a rechargeable style you will need some way to recharge it.

Favorite fruits and veggies that pack well include carrot sticks, celery, raw broccoli and raw cauliflower. To start, you can get by with basic hiking equipment such as rations, tents and sleeping bags. The feeling of challenging yourself will also be great for your mental health.

Sit back in your folding chair and watch the squirrels jump from branch to branch. You might want to ditch that old tent your father passed along to you, and upgrade to a contemporary one.
